About Protect the Whales
Protect the Whales is a grassroots advocacy organization dedicated to protecting whales and other marine life through education, outreach, and action. We work to raise awareness about captivity, pollution, and other human-caused threats to whales while empowering communities—especially students—to take action.
Position Overview
The Fundraising Coordinator plays a key role in helping Protect the Whales raise funds to support outreach efforts, educational materials, and advocacy campaigns. This volunteer will help plan and coordinate fundraising initiatives that directly support tabling events, petitions, banners, educational materials, and other campaign needs.
Responsibilities
• Help plan and organize fundraising campaigns (online and in-person)
• Assist with donation drives, crowdfunding campaigns, and community fundraisers
• Identify creative, low-cost fundraising ideas aligned with our mission
• Help track fundraising goals and progress
• Collaborate with the founder and volunteers to support campaign needs
• Assist with writing short fundraising messages for social media or email (optional)
• Help ensure funds raised are allocated toward outreach supplies (tables, banners, flyers, buttons, etc.)
Qualifications
• Passion for whale protection, animal rights, or environmental advocacy
• Strong organizational skills
• Comfortable communicating with supporters and volunteers
• Creative, proactive, and reliable
• Experience with fundraising, event planning, or advocacy is a plus but not required
