Protect the Whales is calling on Coca-Cola to end its support of SeaWorld and any institutions that profit from the captivity and exploitation of whales—especially belugas. Beluga whales are highly social, intelligent animals who rely on vast ocean spaces, complex family bonds, and natural acoustic environments to thrive. Confinement in tanks causes profound physical and psychological harm, including stress, illness, and premature death. No amount of branding or sponsorship can justify this cruelty.
Coca-Cola presents itself as a company committed to sustainability, community, and environmental responsibility. Yet continuing ties with SeaWorld directly contradict those values. Corporate sponsorship helps normalize captivity, funnels money into an industry built on animal suffering, and sends a message that entertainment matters more than ethics. A truly responsible company must listen to the growing public demand for compassion, transparency, and accountability.
Through this campaign, Protect the Whales educates the public about the realities of beluga captivity and pressures Coca-Cola to take action. We organize protests, leafleting events, and social media actions that encourage people to speak directly to Coca-Cola—by commenting on posts, contacting the company, and refusing to support brands that fund cruelty. We also amplify the voices of activists, scientists, and community members who are calling for an end to marine mammal captivity.
Our goal is simple and clear: Coca-Cola must cut all ties with SeaWorld and publicly commit to not supporting whale captivity in any form. Corporations have power, and with that power comes responsibility. By dropping SeaWorld, Coca-Cola has the opportunity to stand on the right side of history and show that profit will never come before the lives and freedom of whales
